Being a VA is not just about having administrative and productivity skills.
It’s also about understanding how to run a business.
Those skills help you to deliver your service to your clients. And the better you get at that, the more efficient you become. The more efficient you are, the more you can earn.
But for many VA’s, the business side can be the one which causes most headaches. The setting up. The marketing. The branding. The sales process. The follow-up. The keeping up to date with the rules and laws. The red tape. GDPR. The bookkeeping and accounting.
There’s a lot to think about.
When you want help you probably tend to ask your network or search online. That can take time, to find the right information and trust the people sharing it (because there’s plenty of drivel and misinformation out there).
It’s one of the reasons I teamed up with my friend, Jo Brianti, to set up Virtually Amazing – The Podcast.
Yes, it’s a way for us to chat about what’s going on and share our tips, for our listeners and for our YouTube viewers.
But it’s also a highly accessible resource for VA’s who want to learn more about the business side of things. Each week, we interview a guest expert. Someone who has knowledge, skills and experience relevant to whatever stage you’re at.
All the big topics get covered.
Do you want to hear from a business expert? We invite a business expert on.
Do you want to learn about successful networking? We chat to a networking expert.
Do you want to get your website sorted? Virtually Amazing talks to a web design expert.
Need some marketing tips? We’ve already hosted several experts, covering topics like blogging and content marketing.
Need some tips on keeping your tech safe and secure? There’s a cast on that.
Need to get to grips with GDPR? It was one of the early episodes we recorded (because we knew so many VA’s wanted help with this tricky topic).
If you’re looking for a simple way to start building your knowledge and understanding of the business side of being a VA, following a podcast is a smart choice.
It’s flexible and in tune with what you do.
You can follow each episode, week by week, or dip into the topics of most interest to you. Set aside an hour or two a fortnight and you’ll rapidly pick up some brilliant tips.
The podcast is a treasure trove of gems, ready for you to explore whenever you wish, wherever you are in the world.
Virtually Amazing has already produced more than 30 episodes and – from the feedback – it seems to be hitting the mark with our audience.
As with my online courses, the podcast is delivered with a couple of specific things in mind.
High-quality sound and high-value content.
A free resource available to any VA who wants to work smarter and be more business-minded.
As well as the scores and scores of great tips, the podcast interviews give us an insight into the person behind the expertise. Some of the stories are so inspirational and amazing.
